The dresser is made from reclaimed stalks of the sorghum plant bonded with formaldehyde-free adhesive. The salvaged wood table and tray are made from salvaged logs cut or turned and is finished with natural oils. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) label ensures that products are harvested in a sustainable manner. The 100% natural latex foam mattress is environmentally friendly and biodegradable but does not breakdown so there is no need to flip. It is also anti-microbial and hypo-allergenic. The 100% raw wool carpet is completely free of chemical residues from all stages of the process. The backing is made from jute and strengthened with unbleached cotton. This carpet does not use moth treatment, it uses natural latex rather than synthetic, and has negligible VOC ratings. DeBoer s sofa and chair are made from organically grown natural fabric and 100% natural latex foam. The hardwood and plywood frame and aluminum legs are easily dismantled. The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) label ensures that products are harvested in a sustainable manner. The floor, table and pendant lamps (and side tables) are made of hot rolled recycled steel – the metals are inert and no not off-gas. The water based clear coat is a healthy choice. Use compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) as they use less energy and last longer than regular light bulbs. Look for products with the Energy Star label.
